Value Add Consultancy is a team with over three decades of experience in the field of human resources. We believe that managing human resources requires a human touch and is more than just processes. We provide a unique, seasoned understanding of HR processes, policies and issues which provide our clients with more holistic approaches to their Human Resource management and employee engagement.

Our approach to HR boils down to two very simple principles – people want to feel needed, and they also want to be taken care of. As such, we provide our clients with a unique approach that meets their employees’ needs and keeps their interests top of mind. This will help ensure that our clients have a workforce that is optimised and productive to meet their company goals.

Our Team

GUNA SEGAR K. RAMASAMY

Founder & Managing Director

Mr Guna Segar has extensive experience in human resource management. He started his career in human resources in 1978 and has managed hundreds of employees in his tenure at the companies he has worked with. His expertise includes mobility, policy development, and conflict resolution.  

He was one of the establishing pioneers of the Global Assignment Center (GAC) in Motorola. GAC acted as a shared service centre providing global mobility services for Motorola. It was among the first outsourced functions in Motorola. In the Asia Pacific alone, the GAC had over seven centres and managed all the assignments into and out of the Asia Pacific region. His responsibilities expanded to service more than just Motorola when GAC was sold to ACS Malaysia.

In Motorola, Mr Guna served many roles including the Employee Relations Manager for operations in China. He helped establish a multibillion-dollar factory in Tianjin. There he established a framework that was adopted by other Motorola subsidiaries. He also served as the Mobility Manager. In this role, he established policies and processes for the management of ex-pats in China. He also established the TEDA International School and an international clinic to service ex-pats in China.

Since then, Mr Guna has also served as General Manager in Britay Malaysia where he established the company’s presence in the country. He was also a partner in ADD Coral Services. In both companies, he brought his expertise in employee engagement, relations, assignment management, expatriate management, policy development and recruitment.

As Managing Director of Value Add Consultancy, he’s bringing a unique set of skills and expertise to the table and establishing an HR service provider that aims to help companies flourish with their talent.

NUR JOO LEE GUNA SEGAR

Director

Mrs Joo Lee has a background in law. She has recently obtained her master (LLM) in Commercial Law from Universiti Utara Malaysia. Before this, she attained her LLB from the University of London. She has 10 years of experience providing insights into contractual and commercial matters for clients.

Her expertise lies in her understanding and appreciation for the law and its legalities. She has drafted employee contracts and commercial agreements. Having started her career in Human Resources in a well-known pharmaceutical company, she has since expanded her horizons to include commercial insights and has even dabbled in applying machine learning in understanding contractual matters. She has worked in training and analysing AI algorithms in legal technologies and has over 20 certifications in legal technologies and is a certified DocuSign E-signature Implementation Consultant.

At Value Add Consultancy, her expertise has enabled the company to develop end to end policies for clients in addressing employee matters and engagement. She has provided deep insights into developing current and relevant policies for clients.
